Other Libraries

One of the great things about studying in London is having the opportunity to access some of the best libraries in the country for free.

This guide provides useful information and links to some of the Institutional, Public and Special Libraries in London.  All libraries that are listed here accept visitors from general public.

A few tips here when visiting other libraries

  • Check opening hours, terms and conditions for visitors on their web site. It is likely that opening hours will be shorter for some visitors and it might have restrictions on accessing and using their collection.
  • Search to see what you are looking for is available in their collection, almost all libraries make  their catalogue available online so, .
  • Apply for a pass or membership card. Most libraries accept online applications.
  • Allow yourself a plenty of time for your first visit. You might need to collect your membership card or apply for one upon your arrival. Also, you will need time to get to know the building and where to find the collection and equipment you might need.
  • If you are not sure, ask Library staff for help.
  • Remember each library has its rules and regulations for different type of users. In institutional libraries home students and members might have priority and further access to the collections and facilities.

Please note that GSM London is not a SCONUL member. Therefore, as a GSM London student you will not be able to access other Universities` libraries through SCONUL scheme.
